Institute of Contemporary Arts (London) 1976, Post Partum Document.
Exploring motherhood Post-Partum Document by Mary Kelly’s has informed the production of baby grows hung and filled across my studio space. Her use of psychoanalysis, motherhood and available materials is parallel to my earlier works. Kelly uses these materials and presents the works as a response to questioning the roles of women as decreed by society. The addressing of this issue became the basis of my future works in what a new mother and artist should or shouldn’t be creating and how my works would be interpreted in the art world. Ultimately facilitation a shift in form and concept to more abstract pieces.
